Congratulations to all of the campers from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts that competed in the adidas Phenom Regional Basketball Camp. Players that received an invitation to the adidas Phenom National Camp for the summer of 2009 will receive an email. Please do not email us about invites. NEW: Spencer Pulliam, owner of Generation Next Basketball from North Carolina, will be covering the event with exposure articles, player interviews, and player pictures. All exposure articles & pictures will be posted on www.GenerationNextBasketball.com Additional Event Sponsor: All players will get School Sports Magazine's 'RISE' (RISEMAG.com). This issue features Dexter Strickland (6'3 PG from St. Patrick High School in NJ). Strickland is a 3 year adidas Phenom All-American and was coached by Regional Director Jay Riccitelli at several camps and showcases since Strickland was in 7th grade. Strickland is ranked #3 in the Nation in 2009 and has committed to University of North Carolina.
Summer adidas Phenom Basketball Camp SKILL DEVELOPMENT - REGIONAL/NATIONAL EXPOSURE - COMPETITION The Summer Regional adidas Phenom Basketball Camp is open registration, not invite only. The event is a great experience for young players to compete against regional competition. The Director is Dave Taylor (CA), who is the National adidas All-American Basketball Camp Director for upperclassmen and underclassmen and is a former Division I College Coach from Air Force Academy. The players get 1 pair of adidas basketball sneakers(NEW!), an adidas uniform (Jersey & Shorts), 4-6 exposure games, 4-5 skill development workouts with Professional Trainer Sedric Veazey, lecture/guest speaking by Coach Taylor, regional exposure, and the New England adidas Phenom Regional Director Jay Riccitelli will be in attendance to evaluate players for the chance to receive an invitation to the 2009 National adidas Phenom All-American Camp in California. 2008 adidas Phenom Basketball Camp July 19-20, 2008 @ Sacred Heart University Camp Highlights Below is just a preview of some camp standouts and players. NOT all campers have their picture posted on this page. The pictures are NOT in any special order (not in order of rankings). Exposure Articles are posted on www.GenerationNextBasketball.com (Go under 2012). ________________________________________________________________________ Class of 2009: Anthony Ireland (5'8 PG) - Crosby High School (Waterbury, CT) Ireland dazzled coaches and recruiting services all weekend by doing a little of everything. He made great decisions with the basketball in the open floor setting his teammates up in scoring position. Ireland dazzled coaches with his spectacular finishes around the basketball....at 5'8 Ireland was scoring on 6'5 and 6'6 players with ease. Ireland is looking to prep after his senior year at Crosby. Some possible suitors are Tilton and Marianapolis Prep. Low to Mid DI prospect with high interest from Long Island University (so far). ________________________________________________________________________ Class of 2009: Effrin Ellis (5'10 PG) - Sacred Heart High School (Waterbury, CT) Ellis proved to be one of the more explosive guards at camp, getting to the hoop and finishing with contact. Ellis was also able to knock down the jumper in a variety of ways. With great speed and very athletic Ellis will be attracting more interest from colleges during his senior season at SHH. Ellis currently has several DIII Colleges recruiting him, but will attract interest from higher level schools. _______________________________________________________________________ Class of 2010: Josh Turner (6'6 SG) - Sacred Heart High School (Waterbury, CT) Turner is a long 6'6 wing that is able to bring the ball up the floor and attack the basketball or get in the post and take advantage of smaller guards. Good range from the outside and crashes the boards. Turner attended the National adidas Phenom Camp the last two summers. Turner is a mid-major DI prospect. _____________________________________________________________ (Not Pictured) Class of 2010: Greg Langston (6'4 SG) - St. Joseph High School (Trumbull, CT) Langston is considered of the top CT recruits for 2010 and did not disappoint with powerful moves to the basketball finishing with players on his back. Can hit the 3 balll, but is more comfortable about 12 feet and in. Scores in bunches and carries teams offensively. Langston is a smart defensive player, who takes charges often. Langston attended the National adidas Phenom Camp the last two summers. Langston is a mid-major DI prospect and it gaining more interest everyday. ____________________________________________________________ Class of 2010: Jason Pierre (6'3 SG) - Christian Heritage Prep School (Trumbull, CT) Pierre is a very versitle guard that plays the 1 and the 2. Good shooter from long range that is not afraid to take the shot especially in transition. Pierre is athletic and at times plays above the rim. Takes smaller guards to the block and uses his body to score and often also get the foul. Pierre attended the National adidas Phenom Camp last summer. Pierre is a low to mid DI prospect. ____________________________________________________________ Class of 2010: Denzel Jones (6'4 SF) - Kennedy High School (Waterbury, CT) Jones does not look very athletic at times, but just flat out gets the job done. He gets in the lane and finishes with strength and power. Jones is very active around the basketball on the offensive end, often tipping put backs in. Jones is a DII to DIII prospect. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2010: Kevin Brown (5'11 PG) - St. Thomas Moore (Oakdale, CT) Brown is an excellent ball handler with good court vision. He gets by defenders and dishes for easy points around the basketball. Brown makes spectacular passes and also finishes well in transition. Brown is a DII to DIII prospect. ___________________________________________________________________ Class of 2010: Desmond Williams (6'0 SG) - Torrington High School (Torrington, CT) Williams is a good defender and scores well in transition. Possible DIII prospect. Note: Desmond's brother Jordan Williams (6'10 PF 2009) stopped into camp and told us that he has DI offers from Boston College, Connecticut, St. Johns, Xavier, Providence, URI, UMass, and more. Jordan will be going on visits this fall to nero down his choices. ___________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Tyler Harris (6'4 SG) - Long Island Lutheran (NY) Harris played very well all weekend scoring from the wing and creating his own shot off the dribble. Harris plays more like a guard and needs to play out on the perimeter. Shoots the ball well and can take defenders off the dribble to the basket and finish. Harris is long and looks like he will be about 6'7 or bigger by the time he is senior. ___________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Kevin Clark (6'2 SG) - Christian Heritage Prep School (Trumbull, CT) Clark who attended the adidas Phenom National Camp earlier this summer impressed coaches and scouts with his Basketball IQ and understanding pacing during the exposure games. Clark can play inside and outside on the offensive end being able to post up guards, creates his own shot, and shoots the ball consistenly from the perimeter. ____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Avery Pinnex (5'10 PG) - Trumbull High School (Trumbull, CT) Pinnex handles the ball well and works to make himself open on the offensive end. ___________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Patrick Francis (5'10 PG) - Trinity Catholic High School (Stamford, CT) Fancis is a speedy guard with good ball handling skills. ________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Laurence Pope (5'11 PG) - White Plains High School (White Plains, NY) Pope was excellent in transition finishing at the basketball and setting up teammates for easy baskets. _________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Dan Blaze (6'0 SG) - Christian Heritage Prep School (Trumbull, CT) Blaze is a good defender that husles on both sides of the floor. He pushes the ball up the floor and his strength is his outside shot. ___________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Mike Dipilato (6'4 PF) - Ridgefield High School (Ridgefield, CT) Dipilato is strong post player with touch around the basket. He uses his body well to rebound and defend. ____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Lamar Tate (6'3 PF) - Norwalk High School (Norwalk, CT) Tate is a beast in the post scoring on much taller defenders. Tate positions his body to get great post position in the post and to rebound. ____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Moriba Keita (6'1 PG) - West Hill High School (Stamford, CT) Keita is lightning quick in the open floor blowing by defenders. He is a strong ball handler does not seem to ever rush the pass...making good decisions with the basketball. Great on ball defender with long arms. ____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Anthony Donato (6'2 SF) - Darien High School (Darien, CT) Donato did a good job of getting himself opened on the offensive end by getting behind the defense. Donato is good defender and often forced the offensive player to give the ball up. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Max Reyes (5'10 G) - King & Low Heywood (Stamford, CT) Reyes looks to be a true point guard with good ball handling skills and good vision in the open court. Reyes dribble penetrated and found open teammates for layups and jump shots. Reyes is a good on ball defender and uses his quickness to his advantage. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Alexis Nunez (5'9 PG) - White Plains High School (White Plains, NY) _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Mick Kellley (5'11 PG) - RHAM High School (Andover, CT) Kelley shoots the ball well from the outside and is a good defender. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2011: Khalif Chaplin (5'8 PG) - St. Mary's High School (Hempsted, NY) Chaplin is a strong ball handler that creates scoring opportunities for his teammates. ______________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Tidas Green (6'6 SF) - St. Dominics High School (NY) Green was the top prospect in the 2012 at the adidas Phenom Camp. Green is very explosive finishing in transition with an array of athletic moves. Can take defenders off the dribble from 12 feet and in....finishing with strength. Green was moved up to play with the 2009-2011 players. _____________________________________________________________________
Class of 2012: Timajh Parker (6'5 F) - St. Joseph High School (Trumbull, CT) Parker was very calm and performer well considering he was moved up to the 2009-2011 division on the first day of camp. He was able to run the floor and finish in transition. Parker shot the mid-range jumper well from the free throw line and in. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: John Covington (6'1 G) - Hillhouse High School (New Haven, CT) Covington dominated his division scoring in many different ways throughout the weekend. He showed he can penetrate in the lane and finish near the rim, shoot the outside jumper, and bring players in the post and abuse them with good positioning and his body. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Davaughn Wright (5'5 PG) - Platt High School (Meriden, CT) Wright has good ball handling skills and makes his teammates better. He gets by defenders and has the ability to finish at the basket or dish to open teammates. Wright attended the National adidas Phenom Camp this summer. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Tavaughn Wright (5'10 F) - Platt High School (Meriden, CT) Wright is a good rebounder and can score in the post. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Brett Director (5'9 PG) - Cromwell High School (Cromwell, CT) Director was good in the open floor finding the open man and hitting shots from the perimeter. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Gary Pace (5'8 PG) - White Plains High School (White Plains, NY) Pace shot the ball well from the outside and showed good ball handling skills. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Justin Lee (5'4 PG) - St. Dominics High School (New York) Lee looks to be a true point guard who passes first and shoots last. Setting up teammates for easy baskets. _____________________________________________________________________
Class of 2012: Garrett Washington (5'8 G) - White Plains High School (White Plains, NY) _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Gilbert Martinez Jr. (5'10 SG) - Sports Medical & Science Academy (Hartford, CT) _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Brandon Williams (5'6 PG) - St. Dominics High School (New York) Williams impressed coaches and scouts with his Point Guard savy and control of his team on the offensive end. Williams looked to be comfortbale and in control running the Point, handling the ball, and setting up teammates in scoring position. Williams also showed range hitting outside shots with consistency. Williams is a good on ball defender. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Steven Parr (6'1 SF) - RHAM High School (Hebron, CT) Parr is a good rebounder and can score in the post over bigger defenders. Par attended the adidas Phenom National Camp this summer. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Nikko Kotulous (6'5 SF) - Denville, New Jersey Kotulous played very well all weekend dominating his division down low. Kotulous rebounds well and can finish strong around the basket. He played so well, he was moved up to the 2009-2011 division and was forced to play on the wing more. Kotulous defended the guards on the perimeter well and ran the floor well in transition. Player to watch. _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Cord Stafford (5'8 SG) - Fox Lane High School (Bedford, NY) _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Darius Osorio (5'6 SG) - Mt. Olive (New Jersey) _____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2012: Michael Scotman (5'8 SG) - White Plains High School (White Plains, NY) Scotman handles the ball well in the open court finding the open man. Scotman hit his perimeter shots on a consistent basis throughout the weekend. ______________________________________________________________________ Class of 2013: Chijioke Ajoku (6'3 G) - Hollis Queens, NY Ajoka is very strong and athletic for a rising 8th grader. He rebounds well and is able to make plays with the ball. Definately a prospect to continue to follow. ______________________________________________________________________ Class of 2013: Robert Christiani (5'6 G) - Trumbull, CT Christiani is a strong guard that can get inside and muscle his way to the basket. Good rebounder and finisher around the hoop. ____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2013: Carlito Carvalho (5'5 PG) - Mt. Kisco (NY) ___________________________________________________________________ Class of 2013: Nick Boccanfuso (5'4 SG) - Norwalk, CT Boccanfuso is good ball handler that finds ways to break the press quickly. He shoots the ball well from 12 fee and in and is a good defender. ____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2013: Kevin Green (5'2 PG) - Milford, CT ____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2013: Matt Wallack (5'4 PG) - Madison, CT ____________________________________________________________________ Class of 2013: Stiven Esponoza-Hunter (5'0 PG) - Peekskill, NY Hunter showed good ball handling skills and has the making to be a solid point guard. Hunter has the ability to dribble past defenders and finish at the basket or pass to teammates in scoring position for easy baskets. Good mid-range shooter and good on ball defender. __________________________________________________________________ Class of 2014: Tyler Ancrum (5'4 PG) - Bridgeport, CT Ancrum is a very speedy point guard that has strong ball handling abilities and pushes the tempo of games. Ancrum just grabs the ball and goes....forcing teams to get back on defense. Ancrum is solid on the break finishing at the basket or dishing to teammates for easy baskets. __________________________________________________________________ Class of 2014: Isaac Van (5'8 SG) - Bridgeport, CT Van is a very aggressive slasher that gets in the lane and finishes strong. Van is very active on the boards rebounding the ball well. ___________________________________________________________________ Class of 2015: Sam Fieldman (5'5 F) - Rosyln Heights (NY) Fieldman rebounds the ball well and is a good post defender. ___________________________________________________________________ Class of 2015: Donald Hazelton (5'3 PG) - East Williston (NY) Hazelton is a good ball handler and can shoot the mid range jumper consistently. __________________________________________________________________ Class of 2015: Lavion Davis (5'4 PF) - Albany, NY Davis is good rebounder and can post up on the offensive end. _____________________________________________________________ Class of 2015: Taj Thompson (4'8 F) - Albany, NY ______________________________________________________________ Class of 2016: Azar Swain (4'8 G) - Stoughton, MA ______________________________________________________________
